'Under the Brooklyn Bridge' Original Oil Painting

This painting was inspired by a photo I took just after I had crossed the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. The view across the East River looking over to Manhattan and at the bridge is impeccable. As a new resident of the city I greatly admire these views reflected over water. For this scene I had a vision to use thicker dabs of paint to depict a very painterly feel. I love how the scene itself is so dark, casting just shadows and silhouettes of the architecture, and then all of the lights glimmer in a unique colorful way. This creation to me is a celebration of New York in its colorful diverse glory under one of its most iconic tourist attractions.

This oil painting is 12x9 inches on panel board and one inch thick. Comes ready to hang with hook and wire with a glossy layer of varnish overtop.

The Process |

Having taken this reference photo myself I am more tied to this painting. It was from a personal memory, and I wish to bring the viewer inside the scene with me using painting. I learned I can portray any aura, emotion, or energy through a 2-D image using paint. I wanted to add a layer of glossy varnish over top as well, not only to protect it, but to add to its sparkling beauty
