Why New York City Inspires Me

*Reposted from April 5, 2023*

There are 8 million people in all the boroughs of the city, and this is just an estimate. WHAT?

I honestly can’t be happier that I’m able to experience such a diverse place. Where all people, ideas, cultures, are welcome. Creativity makes up this place. Quite literally. This is my personal inside perspective of living in the city as an artist.

Did you know every single thing in central park is man made, meaning it was curated to be put there? I learned this in my 8th grade urban studies class. As a girl who grew up in suburbia on Long Island, NY, I was so astonished by hearing this. All of the city was crafted like some type of giant art project.

I think this is a big reason why I love it so much here. I feel as if this is a place of collective consciousness, artwork, and beauty. Of course, there are some cons of being in such a populated bustling city, but overall, its freaking eclectic.

Everywhere you turn, you’ll find someone putting themselves out there, whether that means singing, playing, creating art, and networking. Its so awesome to have a daily commute and never know if you’re going to catch someone in their creative act.

If you grew up outside of the city, I greatly recommend taking an extended visit to New York, or living here even for a period of time. I swear it will take you out of your bubble, and quite forcefully surround you in the middle of many other energies that will assist your creative, and personal growth. I feel as if I’m more open minded just by living here.

My art has expanded to scenes of perspective, architecture, and iconic places in NYC. I never would have created these if it weren’t for living here. I think its so important for this extra push, one that keeps you on your toes, and constantly in the look out of what’s happening around you. It opens your eyes, mind, & spirit.

I love cities.
