Why I Love Paint…
Back in time seven years ago when I was 16, in my sophomore year of high school, I started to move away from drawing & had found the painting medium of watercolor. I instantly was so captivated by watercolor because it flowed, didn’t dry in a split second. I’ve always really disliked acrylic and barely ever used it, so finding watercolor was a perfect entry into the type of painting I liked. It all started from there.
After about 8 months of doing watercolor, I was first introduced to oil paint. Ever since then, painting has been my main medium, and I continue to grow knowledge and a fascination of oil painting every day.
Reasons I just love it.
The array of colors that are able to be mixed, and blended together gives me opportunities to create a visual representation of my deepest of thoughts.
Granting endless possibilities to touch those who view my art. They can view it online, or even better, in person.
The energetic value of an original artwork gives me so much vibrancy, and weirdly enough, self worth.
Each color is its own entity, conveying emotion which truly is a gift to be able to interpret with our earthly senses.
I can literally make something look realistic, and like that which you can transport yourself in. A sacred scene that can only be created this way, not through drawing, Ai, or sculpting.
Linking from our occipital nerves directly to our soul, it is a literal translation for the mind and soul connection.
It is one part of a whole world of art.
What painting can do for you.
But the painter isn’t afraid to be messy, ponder, to make mistakes, to cover up, re-do, plan for, and in contrast to that- be spontaneous. Most of us are not type A, that’s for sure. It allows you to become looser and accept any outcome.
This energy spreads through my whole being, simultaneously with the mixing of color.
Painting is my two-dimensional soul mate, where my mind finally meets the rest of me.
I feel oneness while making.
It endlessly morphs me.
I am a painter.
A creator.
And we all are. We all have a different medium we are gravitated towards.
What is yours?
