Why we all should continuously learn.
Artists, non-artists, moms, dads, sisters, anyone, should ALWAYS strive to keep on learning.
This means, practicing what you already know to then become better, or learn new things.
Let’s think a broad example of how this can help one evolve:
A gardener has the brightest of green thumbs for hibiscus flowers, but those dang roses always seem to wilt. Instead of having a beautiful diverse array of florals, they are deterred from learning about rose flower care. Therefore, is limited and not growing her garden to full capacity.
Then one day they read some blogs and book sections once skipped in the past, and now has new knowledge of the ways of growth for roses. HOORAY! The friend who hates hibiscus’ now has a muse in the friends garden.
The growth vs. fixed mindset is a real thing, written on and studied by many. The book Atomic Habits which you may have heard of by James Clear, states many scenarios of this phenomena.
The mind is adaptable, matter of fact, its what were made for.
As an artist, I always try to read new books to learn more into art history, color theory, and ways of painting. Not only that, learning about other things aids to my artistic inspiration.
Recently, I challenge my hand to a whole different way of painting. This can expand my horizons ultimately leading to new depths. Im not afraid of the learning curve.
I hope you venture to grow in this endless world.
